Those of you of a certain age will remember these words and know that there would be trouble on the strange planet. The young space explorer was about to get in a sticky situation. Hopefully the following headlines will encourage you to ask questions and look for answers. I receive much e-mail about health issues and I research them before I pass them on to you. The goal is to make you think before you use/take/swallow any pill/potion/proposition. Feel free to ask for copies of the original and full text of the following:
Antibiotics
For many years, antibiotics have been over-prescribed – often for health problems (such as the common cold) that antibiotics have no effect on at all. In a study by researchers from the University of Washington (Seattle) comes a study where data collected on more than 10,000 women enrolled in a large health plan in Washington State. Two groups were studied and it was found that the risk of breast cancer was doubled among women who received 25 or more prescriptions for antibiotics of any variety, when compared to women who took no antibiotics at all. The group of women who received between one and 25 prescriptions increased their risk by one and a half.
The conclusions raised more questions about inhibiting intestinal micro flora or impairing the immune system or set off inflammation, paving the way for cancer. Bottom line: both women and men should press their doctor for details whenever an antibiotic is prescribed. Over use of these drugs may promote greater harm than good.
Aspartame
I know you have heard this before but food containing Aspartame may be dangerous to your health. The potential for significant symptoms and aggravated conditions is quite real. Don’t take my word for it. Give up all aspartame for 60 days and note how you feel at the end of the two-month period of time. As you read labels and stop using Equal and Nutrasweet and all the products using the aspartame, you may be surprised at the variety of physical, mental, and emotional changes that occur. I DARE YOU.
Death by Medicine
A group of researchers meticulously reviewed the statistical evidence and their findings are absolutely shocking. These researchers have authored a paper titled “Death by Medicine” that presents compelling evidence that today’s medical system frequently causes more harm than good.
This fully referenced report shows the number of people having in-hospital, adverse reactions to prescribed drugs to be 2.2 million per year. The number of unnecessary antibiotics prescribed annually for viral infections is 20 million per year. The number of unnecessary medical and surgical procedures performed annually is 7.5 million per year. The number of people exposed to unnecessary hospitalization is 8.9 million per year.
The most stunning statistic, however, is that the total number of deaths caused by conventional medicine is an astounding 783,936 per year. It is now evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the US. The entire text can be found on (www.lef.org).
